Tell His Story
For 17 years North American missionary Chet Cantrell has served as director of
the Christian Activity Center in East St Louis, Illinois. During that time the
Baptist ministry center has helped change hundreds of lives for eternity in one
of the poorest, crime-ridden zip codes in the nation.
An inner-city community once paralyze by fear of gang violence, the center is
now a place of hope and health. Today children, teenagers, and senior adults
alike participate weekly in recreational, academic, healthcare, and worship
activities held at the ministry center.
“We are a ministry of place—a safe place,” says Cantrell, “This community needs
this center, and we are grateful for all the churches that support us through
their gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® for North American
Missions.”
While all Southern Baptists are called to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and
to tell His story, more than 5,100 North American missionaries have committed
their lives to doing that in a myriad of ways and in diverse settings.
Through the North American Mission Board, Southern Baptists are affirming God’s
call on the lives of these missionaries by strategically sending them out to
share His message emboldened by our prayers and financial support.
The Week of Prayer for North American Missions is March 5-12, 2006. The Annie
Armstrong Easter Offering® for North American Missions goal this year is $56
million. To learn more about the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® for North
