Most of the information found in this history of the First Baptist Church of LaFollette, Tennessee has been taken from the record books that are in the church office, beginning in November 1897. One book is missing covering the years 1927 - 1931. There is some information which was gotten from individuals which will be acknowledged in the writing.

It is impossible to write a history of a church covering a hundred years and include everyone that has contributed to the life of our church. There have been some wonderful saints through the years that have-made the heritage of the church one of which we should be proud.

Although we do not have any records from 1881 to 1897 the minutes written on the day of dedication of the new frame church building at 402 West Central Avenue in 1906 told when the church was organized and the number of charter members. Also there are records of the Clinton Baptist Association which record the messengers sent to the Clinton Baptist Association from the Big Creek Gap Baptist Church.

The Campbell County Baptist Association was not formed until November 19th - 20th, 1908 at the Cedar Hill Baptist Church. Thirteen churches were represented: Cedar Hill, Caryville, Grantsboro, LaFollette, Murrayville, Macedonia, Morning Star, Sugar Hollow (now Coolidge First), Vasper, Block, Whitman and Ivey Dell (now Big Creek Gap).
