The Lord’s work through His church can progress no farther than the volunta-y

To win a soul is better than to make a louchdown in 5oball, or to earn a millioU
dollars in the marts of the world, or •to discover a new continent, or o conquer
a nation, or rule an empire.
If we have an attack of real religion it will be contagious.
The depth of our Christian experience can be measured by the radius of our love.
“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that
repenteth (absentee who returneth), more tlian ovei ninety- and nine just
persons, which need no repentance (which attend regularly)” (Luke l5:7).
Between the great things we can’t do and the little things we won’t do, the
danger is we shall do nothing at all.
A deacon who will not tithe does
not have any more business of being
a deacon than a monkey has with
a match in a powder keg.—Robert
G.Lee
Every man needs to inspect his convictions from time to time lest they
degenerate into mere prejudices.
Some of us are able to stand up against the great temptations, but we go down
under the annoyance of numerous temptations.
Too many of us are willing to be used of the Lord provided we are used in an
advisory capacity only.
Anyone can praise Christ, but it takes a real Christian to follow him.
The pay envelope falls far short of explaining why the captain goes down with
his ship, why the nurse faces death with her patient, why the coal-miner risks
his life in gas and under a treacherous roof.

I love the little country church That calls us from a world of
strife,
To have respect unto God’s ways, And covet everlasting life.
I love the little country church Where faithful souls unite in prayer;
My thoughts go back across the years—
I found the blessed Saviour there.
I love the little country church Where people still take time to
live;
To meditate upon the Word, And to the Lord due reverence
give.
I love the little country church, Where truth is sought on bendeci
knee;
And trustful hearts rejoice in hope, Where love abounds and men are
free.
I love the little country church Where Christ is still upon the
throne;
Let’s keep her altar fires ablaze ‘Til he returns to claim his own.

I Am a Baptist
Baptists believe that there are great basic principles underlying New Testament
truths. These may be stated in the form of axiom as follows:
1. The theological axiom: The holy and loving God has a right to be sovereign.
2. The religious axiom: All souls are equally entitled to direct access to God.
3. The ecclesiastical axiom: All believers are entitled to equal privileges in
the church.
4. The’ mbral axiom: To be responsible the soul must be free.
5. The religio-civic axiom: A free church in a free state.
6. The social axiom: Love your neighbors as yourself.
7. The civic axiom: The sovereignty of the state resides in the citizen.
These axioms may be reduced to one great universal principle, which expresses
the historical attitude of Baptists: the competency of. the souV in religion
under God. Baptists oppose all systems which concentrate responsibility in the
hnds of any class or group, whether they be priests, bishops, or other
ecciesiastical officials.
These principles are atthefoundati ti of the whole Baptist conception
of’Christianity.

Detached Baptists
Many people with saved souls are losing their lives! And nothing promotes this
condition more than nonresident church members.
When we approach such Ciwis— tians, they are usually ready, to give some old
objection, such as:
1. “The old church is. weak, and needs me to keep it alive.” But God did not
make you to keep’ churches alive—he made churches to keep you, alive.
2. “I ani not sure how long I will be here.” No one is sure how long he will be
living.
3. “My peopl are all members there.” But if you can stand to sever your physical
relations with theni for material comforts, surely you can afford to break this
sentimental tie for, your soul’s welfare.
.4 “My parents are buried there.” But this is only a sentiment common to human
nature. It would nake your blessed dead’ doubly dead to know that you are
robbing your- sell of a robust and progressive hristian lif for such a sickly
sentiment.
5. “I can do just as much good out of the church ‘as I could if I were in it.”
But, if this is true then Christ made a mistake when he established the church.
And it is not my duty to defend his mistakes. You are matching your judgment
against his.
