THE LORD’S SUPPER
The Lord’s Supper is like a bridge spanning the entire interval of the church’s history on earth. One end of it rests on the shame of the cross; the other is planted in the glory of the Kingdom.
1. It is an ACT OF REMEMBRANCE, “This do in rememberance of me” (1 Cor.
11:24, 25). It commemorates Christ, the Lord. It is the only thing Jesus asked that we do in His memory.
2. It is an ACT OF EXAMINATION. “Let a man examine himself and so let him eat” (1 Cor. 11:28). The examination was to be made for the purpose of “discerning the Lord’s body.”
3. It is an ACT OF TESTIMONY. “Ye do show forth the Lord’s death” (1 Cor,
11:26). This is the meaning of it. Christ did not want us to forget it and every time it is observed we are to remember Him.
4. It is an ACT OF OBEDIENCE. “This do” (1 Cor. 11:24, 25). Jesus commanded us to observe it. “Take, eat . . drink ye all of it”. Attendance upon it is an acid test of our obedience. “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
5. It is an ACT OF PARTICIPATION. “The communion of the blood and body of Christ” (1 Cor. 10:16).
6. It is an ACT OF THANKSGIVING. “He gave thanks.” (1 Cor, 11:24).
7. It is an ACT OF BELIEF. Those who partook “continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine” (Acts 2:42).
8. It is an ACT OF EXPECTATION. “Till he comes” (1 Cor. 11:26).
9. It is an ACT OF COVENANT• “This cup is the new covenant in my blood” (1 Cor. 11:25).
10. It is an ACT OF UNIFICATION. The church of Corinth was instructed to “come together in the church to come together in one place.. . and to tarry one for another, when they thus come together to observe the Lord’s Supper” (1 Cor. 11:18, 20, 23). All thought of individualism in observance of the Supper is thus destroyed.

We have had a good response by our people during March Some have made up their pledges. We commend all who have so responded. During the cold and winter Sundays and flu epidemic, our gifts and attendance were off. It is most encouraging to see the pickup in attendance, interest and giving. Let’s reach every church member during April for the services and Revival. Help boast the giving needs so we can carry our full church program of work. Let’s show our gratitude for the Lord’s goodness, by attending, visiting prospects, and the dedicating of our tithes and offerings in the Lord’s House every Sunday.
Your prayers and interests are vital to the progress of our church. “To God Be The Glory for every Step of Progress.”
