FROM YOUR EDUCATION
ND YOUTH DIIECTOR
On Monday evenings Oct. 62 7O0 p0m0 our church will begin a church-wide
visitation program0 We are expecting each class to be represented and we expect
each department director to set the example for his teacher and outreach leader.
The Lord will bless you just as He did Mrs0 Ruth McRoberts Ward? who is a member
of Temple Baptist ChuLch, York Pa0 May I share her story with you0
Ever Give Our sixteen-year-old son faithfully invites an unchurched school
frierd to Sunday School and Worship, as well as to partics retreats, and special
youth pro’grams 0 He shares his faith and friendship but often to no avail,,
I get impatient when I hear the flimsy excuses his friend dreams UP? but David
doesn’t seem to be discouraged by theme
“I’d rather he’d give you a flat no,” I’ve told him0 “It’s evident that Ion’s
not interested 0 Why don’t you concentrate on someone else?”
Then from the recesses of my mind loomed Carole Smith, She was a high-school
friend I had poured my time and care into just as David is doing with his
friend0 She did come to a party or two after much persuasion, but kept urging
her to attend Bible Study and worship activities0 Her excuses, too? were wild,,
We graduated and werE our separate ways0 We lost contact. Ten years later I
received some good news in a letter from mother0 “An old friend of yours came to
church today0 You graduated the same year0 She spoke highly of you and mentioned
how you encouraged her years ago arid that’s why she came to our church0 Do you
remember Carole Sm±th? She brought her three children and also her younger
sister0”
Don’t give up, David; you never know when it will take0
