During the creation of this web site I became fascinated with
the directions some of our former pastors took after leaving LaFollette.
It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack, but it is fun, so I guess I
will continue to look. I will document my search, and share it with you.
Rev W. H. Rutherford was our pastor
from Nov 1887 to Jan 1899. I am sure this is the same person who did the
article for the Baptist Reflector dated Jan 1898. It’s kind of confusing,
because he did the article as if he was in Clinton, but we know he was at
our church during that time. He gave Clinton as the place to send donations,
but this was probably a central association for helping Baptist Churches.
F. C. Lewallen born February 29,
1832, died Frbruary 12, 1900 was pastor of Clinton Church from June 15, 1873
to October 15, 1877. In his obituary it mentioned his daughter Mrs. W. H.
Rutherford, wife of the Baptist pastor at Williamsburg, Ky. Preacher
Lewallen was living with his daughter at the time of his death. In all
probability this is the same Rev. W. H. Rutherford who pastured our church,
and probably moved to Williamsburg from LaFollette.
From this point on I have drawn a
blank. If anyone has any information that will help me continue my journey,
